The Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated Grade School District asked for voter approval to authorize the District to exceed the revenue limit by $800,000 per year over five years for the purposes of maintaining current class sizes, educational programs, and services, and meeting current district expenses. This is a non-recurring referendum and will begin with the 2022-23 school year and end with the 2026-27 school year. The District’s Board of Education approved the proposal at its meeting on January 11, and voters approved the referendum in the April 5, 2022 election.

What was the Challenge? Decreasing Annual Funding: The Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated Grade School District faces an ongoing challenge of unpredictable, and decreasing annual funding. An annual operating budget shortfall is projected now and for the foreseeable future. Trevor-Wilmot's Board of Education made many financial decisions to avoid an operational referendum including controlling costs, making budget reductions, and paying debt early. They also used Fund Balance, but this was not a sustainable solution. The passed referendum allows the district to exceed the state-set revenue limits by $800,000 for five years to maintain current class sizes, educational programs and services, and to meet current district expenses.
