The Board shall allow persons to have access to District records in accordance with this policy and legislative statutes. Records collected and maintained by the District are subject to Wisconsin Open Records Law. Wisconsin State Statutes expressly provides for the public’s right of access to public records and also specifies exceptions to that right. The District adheres to all legislation regarding access to public records.

All records of the District are considered public records except those that are considered by law to be confidential. The District Administrator and Board Clerk are the legal custodians of the public records. The legal custodian shall safely keep and preserve records of the District and shall have full legal power to render decisions and carry on duties related to those public records maintained by the District.

The records will be kept at the appropriate school and will be available to the public as noted. All school records except those of students are available to the public between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M.

Fees for reproducing and transcribing records, locating records, and mailing or shipping records will be established according to Wisconsin Statutes.
