The teacher workday shall be seven (7) hours and forty-five (45) minutes long, or as needed to secure the safety of students including a duty-free thirty (30) minute lunch period. The starting and ending times for the teacher workday shall be set by the Board. All teachers must be at school at the times set by the Board under this section, except on Fridays and days before holidays when teachers may leave only after student buses have left the school grounds. Teachers will from time to time, as necessary, participate in staff meetings, team meetings, M team meetings, IEP meetings, and supervised detentions, which will extend beyond the normal teacher day. If a teacher is attending classes or has a legitimate reason, the Principal should be so informed and may grant permission to leave early. The Principal shall assign lunch and duty periods equitably to provide appropriate supervision of students in the halls, classrooms, and on the playground.
Teachers will receive preparation time as determined by the Principal. Preparation time may include time before, during, or after the pupil day within the confines of the teacher workday. The District may direct teachers to apply prep time to team meetings, IEP meetings, and/or other collaborative activities with other teachers.
