A comprehensive Crisis Prevention and Response Plan has been developed, implemented and maintained by District personnel. A suicide prevention program is incorporated into this Crisis Prevention and Response Plan and includes the following:
- Primary prevention approaches which represent ongoing education of students and staff
- Additional prevention approaches which define the referral and intervention procedures for students with immediate assistance needs
- Guidelines for dealing with a crisis situation at the school
A Crisis Team includes an administrator, a counselor, a nurse, and other staff deemed as appropriate. This team will review annually the District’s crisis management/suicide prevention program and will coordinate intervention and crisis response situations as needed.
As defined in Wisconsin Statutes, any staff member acting in good faith to prevent suicide by a student is immune from civil liability for any act or omission in respect to the suicide or attempted suicide.
