It is the policy of this District to monitor the students to prevent the spread or infestation of pediculosis. The District will conduct a head check screenings as needed.
Students with lice or nits shall be removed from the classroom and sent home for treatment. Information regarding proper treatment and care will be furnished to the parent/guardian. The parent/guardian/emergency contact will be asked to pick up the student from school. If no one is able to pick up the student, the student will remain under the supervision of the school nurse or office staff until arrangements for transportation are made.
Students may return to school only when the treatments have been given and the hair is nit free. A written explanation including identification (label) of the substance used for treatment and verification of the removal of nits by the parent or guardian may be requested. The student may be readmitted to school after a repeat head check shows no evidence of head lice or nits. The head check will be repeated weekly until the student shows no evidence of head lice or nits in two consecutive inspections.
