Out-of-state and extended field trips may take place providing that they are of significant educational value. An extended field trip is a trip that requires students to be away from home for one or more nights outside the controlled environment of the school. The District believes that education can be enhanced through opportunities that may include over night stays. When a field trip or excursion includes an over night stay, the guidelines outlined in the Administrative Policy will be observed and implemented by all parties involved. No fund raising activities for an extended trip may occur before trip approval is granted. Participation in school-sponsored extended trips shall be voluntary. Failure to follow these procedures will result in denial of field trips.
