QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification as required by the State of Wisconsin.
- Any other qualifications the Board of Education may deem necessary or desirable.
REPORTS TO: District Administrator
GENERAL FUNCTIONS: The Director of Curriculum & Instruction shall be responsible for the coordination of planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum programs and will assist the Principal with the management of the school.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A. Leadership - The Director of Curriculum & Instruction will:
- Work with appropriate committees in the development of the District's curriculum and instructional program
- Plan and coordinate with the Principal and District Administrator the evaluation of the educational programs
- Plan and coordinate with the Principal and District Administrator the systematic development and implementation of the various academic programs
- Continue to motivate and encourage staff to explore new teaching methods, make curriculum revisions and updates, and develop new programs through staff development programs
- Coordinate the District's professional development programs including Skill Blocks
- Work with Administrative Team to develop in-service programs for teachers and support staff
- Promote the use of technology in education and work to implement the District's Technology Plan
- Facilitate the District's RtI System
- Make presentations to the Board as requested by the District Administrator
- Perform additional responsibilities deemed appropriate and assigned by the District Administrator
B. Human Relations - The Director of Curriculum & Instruction will:
- Establish a good working rapport with professional staff, administration, support staff and community members
- Cooperate and be an active member of the administrative team
- Lead the Academic Achievement Committee.
C. Curriculum - The Director of Curriculum & Instruction will:
- Provide the necessary direction for the development, implementation and refinement of the curriculum to meet state and local standards
- Provide assistance to staff and administration in the development of new curriculum and programs for the academic year and the summer program
- Provide assistance to staff and administration in the maintenance and refinement of existing curriculum and programs
- Provide assistance to the District's gifted and talented programming
- Establish and maintain a schedule for regular curriculum review
D. Personnel - The Director of Curriculum & Instruction will:
- Assist the administration in the interview process when needed
- Assist in the supervision of the professional staff
E. Management - The Director of Curriculum & Instruction will:
- Plan and coordinate the operations of committees under his/her direction
- Provide an estimate for curricular costs in the coming year
F. External Relations - The Director of Curriculum & Instruction will:
- Maintain a positive relationship and communications with the media, community agencies, Department of Public Instruction and other school districts
- Prepare articles for the District and School web pages relating to curriculum issues as requested by the District Administrator and/or Principal
G. Building Level Responsibilities - The Director of Curriculum & Instruction will:
- Collaborate with the Principal
- Evaluate professional staff as assigned
- Attend faculty meetings
- Supervise students as needed to support the Principal
- Perform building level tasks as needed to support the Principal
H. District Assessment Coordinator Responsibilities - The Director of Curriculum & Instruction will:
- Facilitate and supervise all assessment required by the Wisconsin Department of Instruction
- Plan and coordinate all District benchmark assessments including but not limited to Measures of Academic Progress (MAP), Dibels, Fountas & Pinnell Benchmark Assessment, Scholastic Reading Inventory, Easy Curriculum Based Measures for Math
- Provide direction and support for teachers in analyzing and utilizing data for instructional purposes
