The Board shall elect a President, Vice-President, Clerk and Treasurer from among its membership to serve as officers of the Board. A Recording Secretary, who need not be a member of the Board of Education, may also be appointed.
Board officers shall be elected annually at the organizational meeting as provided by state statutes. Board officers shall be elected by a majority vote of the Board. Secret ballots may be used in the election of officers.
A Board officer may be removed from office by a majority vote of the full Board at a publicly held regular or special meeting of the Board of Education.
Board officer vacancies, including resignations, shall be filled as soon as possible in the same manner as provided for at an organizational meeting, except in case the office of President becomes vacant, the Vice-President succeeds as President.
The President presides at all meetings of the Board and the Committee of the Whole; ensures through assigning responsibility to district administration that meetings comply with State Statues regarding open meetings and open records regulations; decides all questions of order, subject to an appeal by any Board Member signs all documents on behalf of the Board; President or designee countersigns all checks, share drafts, or other drafts for disbursement of school district monies; and makes appointments to all committees, designates a chairman, and serves as an ex-officio member. The President shall perform such other duties as provided by Wisconsin Statutes.
The Vice President shall perform the duties of the President in the event of the President’s absence or inability to perform said duties.
The Clerk or designee shall record the proceedings of the regular, special and annual meetings of the Board; shall sign all documents which obligate the Board and sign all letters which advise of any obligations of the Board; shall supervise the listing of all property belonging to the District; file and preserve all reports, resolutions and documents in a manner convenient for reference at the school; shall maintain and assure a timely filing of the legal records and official papers pertaining to the functions and duties of the Board and provided in the Wisconsin Statutes; and shall supervise all legal advertisements and notices. The Clerk performs such other duties as are provided in the Wisconsin Statutes.
The Treasurer shall have charge of all District funds and issue checks as authorized by the Board and shall perform such other duties as are provided in the Wisconsin Statutes.
