The objectives of the Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District Board of Education, hereafter referred to as the “Board”, are to support the school vision that students in Trevor-Wilmot Consolidated School District, hereafter referred to as the “District”, are provided with instruction, resources, and community support that enable them to develop academically and socially to their greatest potential, and to provide the managerial leadership and direction in the conduct of the educational process and financial obligations of the District.

The Board and staff will foster personal and academic excellence through a student-centered comprehensive learning environment. The Board and the staff will also recognize our joint obligations to the various constituencies that provide our funding.

Obligation to the Student

The first obligation of any school is to provide a high quality education to the students within the District and any other students in attendance in District schools. We measure success by the progress of each student toward achievement of that student’s maximum potential. We, therefore, work to stimulate the spirit of inquiry, the acquisition of knowledge and understanding, and the thoughtful formulation of worthy goals. We recognize the importance of cooperative relationships with other community institutions, especially the home. Equally important is to provide for the safety and supervision of each child that is in our care. The primary reason for the Board to employ staff members is to fulfill this obligation.

Obligation to the Nation

The Federal Government provides funding to the District and, in return, the District abides by the stipulations placed by the Federal Government upon the District’s use of these funds. Foremost among these stipulations is that we strive so that each student shall be proficient or advanced, with respect to the student’s grade level, in math and reading. It is, in part, to ensure the District meets this obligation, that the Board employs professional educators and support staff.

Obligation to the State

The State of Wisconsin provides funding to the District and in return the District abides by these standards the State of Wisconsin has established for teachers:

1. Teachers know the subject they are teaching.

2. Teachers know how children grow.

3. Teachers understand that children learn differently.

4. Teachers know how to teach.

5. Teachers know how to manage a classroom.

6. Teachers communicate well.

7. Teachers are able to plan different kinds of lessons.

8. Teachers know how to test for student progress.

9. Teachers are able to evaluate themselves.

10. Teachers are connected with other teachers and the community.

The District and its employees recognize the importance of these standards and the obligation to maintain them.

Obligation to the Community

In a community effort, the District has established certain parameters and beliefs through a strategic planning process to provide guidance for the District to aid in decision-making. The District’s beliefs are the following:
